Deep shades of violet and purple
Cast their glow in the pale moonlight,
Hues of lavender and amethyst,
All brought my soul to flight.
Supposedly the color of royalty,
But to me, the color of a broken spirit.
I have seen where lies the majesty,
I have felt wherein lies the merit.
Some purples came from bruises wielded,
To a little girl unknowing and unshielded,
But it was the lavender, the amethyst, the orchid
Of the healing room and the strong arms transported,
Carrying my heart and body away from harm,
Taking my spirit from the horrors forewarned.
Those are the purple hues remembered far more
Than those that that little body wore.
