Summa Cum Laude

Textbooks, quizzes, discussions, assignments,
Week after week, month after month, year after year,
Obstacles and stress, due dates offering grade torments,
They worried the mind, worried the heart, quite often to tears.
But in the end, when all was said and done,
The final quiz taken, the final project written,
The last grade posted, achievement was won.
Goals were set, goals were met, pride has arisen.
Hard work met with strict determination,
Inner strength was the factor through which I clawed,
Finally, meeting the goal of college graduation,
Not merely with honors, but Summa Cum Laude.
